Biography

 

 

 

Aline Christ is a Swiss/British cellist based in London.

​​​

A passionate advocate for contemporary music, Aline has collaborated with ensembles including the Plus-Minus Ensemble, Bauhaus Band, and New Perspectives Ensemble, and has worked closely with composers such as Neil Luck. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Her recording projects include work with the Guildhall Session Orchestra and composers such as Eden Lonsdale, as well as a recent album release with composer Deniz Dortok on the Berlin-based label re:natura.​​

As an orchestral player, Aline was an academist of the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie 25/26 and the Chipping Campden Festival Orchestra 26. She has performed under conductors including Håkan Hardenberger, Lawrence Renes, Vasily Petrenko, Roberto González-Monjas, and Jessica Cottis and has appeared in renowned venues such as Barbican Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Flagey (Brussels), Swiss Embassy in London, Brussels Parliament and Philharmonic Hall of Liege. She serves as Principal Cellist of the JP Morgan Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with the Illuminated Orchestra. 

 

She has received further artistic inspiration at the Festival Resonances Academy, the Davisbundler Academy, the Swiss International Music Academy, and the Festival Virtuoso & Belcanto: participating in masterclasses with the Maisky Trio, Troels Svane, Steven Doane, Zlatomir Fung, Alexey Stadler, Conradin Brotbek, Rafael Rosenfeld, Rebecca Gilliver, Martti Rousi, and Claudio Bohórquez.

 

Aline recently graduated from the Royal College of Music, where she studied with Tim Walden and Hélène Dautry. She previously studied at the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles with Didier Poskin and graduated from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where her teachers included Richard Lester and Tim Lowe. She pursued her junior studies at the Hochschule der Künste Bern with Denis Severin.

Fluent in German, French, and English, and conversational in Dutch, Aline brings her international background and wide-ranging musical expertise to every performance.
